Every wedding day is as special and unique as the couple it celebrates. For same-sex couples, customising your schedule to fit your needs is key. Explore how we can help you plan your perfect day at Whistle Barns!

Keep in mind, the examples provided here are based on our suggested ceremony time of 1:30 pm. However, this isn't set in stone. You'll have ample time to chat with an Event Manager well before your big day to finalise all the details!

9am The Day Before

Bright and early at 9am, the day before your wedding, is when you'll bring all your lovely decorations! We'll make sure they're safely stored away ready for the big day. This can include items like place cards, confetti, candles, etc. This way, your Event Manager will have everything on hand to begin set up first thing on your special day.

10am On The Big Day

Starting from 10am, your selected wedding suppliers are welcome to come onsite and begin setup. This may include Florists, Venue Dressers, Hair and Makeup Artists, and our fantastic caterers. All who will be working hard to ensure everything is perfect for your big day.

10:30am - The Dressing Room

Time to settle into The Dressing Room with your closest crew to kickstart the pre-wedding preparations! At Whistle Barns, we understand that every couple is unique. For a same sex wedding, it may be that a non-traditional schedule is more your style. You may even prefer to get ready together in The Dressing Room. It's the perfect chance to grab  some pre-ceremony snapshots together!

On the other hand, if you'd rather save that first look for the ceremony. One of you can arrive from 12pm to add those final touches in your wedding night suite. Don't worry, we've got a plan in place to ensure no sneak peeks happen on the way to the ceremony.

Be sure not to miss out on this incredible photo moment, where the emotions of that first glance come alive.

Whatever makes you both feel most comfortable, we're here to make it happen!

11am - Exclusively Yours

From here on, your exclusive-use begins at Whistle Barns. Only your invited guests and our dedicated team will be onsite.

Savor this private time before guests arrive and enjoy a moment of calm.

1pm - 30 Minutes To Go

Before the ceremony, the registrar will arrive and have a private conversation with both of you.

While this is happening, your wonderful Event Manager will be there to welcome and guide your arriving guests.

1.30pm - The Ceremony

We suggest a 1:30pm ceremony for you to make the most of your venue and enjoy every moment comfortably.

Before the big day, we'll chat about who will join you for the ceremony. Your ceremony is special and we'll explore various ways to involve your loved ones. You might decide to have a loved one accompany you down the aisle. Or you may prefer to walk down together as a couple.

The arc chair setup is fantastic for same-sex weddings when both are seeking a unique entrance. It offers two aisles meeting at the registrar's table, allowing you to enter together. Alternatively, one of you can await the arrival of your partner at the front. The most important thing is that you both feel comfortable with your choice of entrance.

2pm - Drinks Reception

Following your ceremony, guests are warmly invited into The Engine Room and onto the decking. Our catering team will be waiting with trays of your selected celebratory beverages.

The Drinks Reception, lasting about an hour and a half, offers the perfect moment for your photographer to capture all the shots you desire while your guests mingle and enjoy their drinks.

Take this chance as newlyweds to wander through the charming spaces of Whistle Barns. You can use this time to capture some breathtaking photographs of just the two of you.

3:30pm - The Lakeside Dining Room

The epic barn doors slide open to reveal your stunning Lakeside Dining Room. Guests are welcomed to take their seats while you await behind the scenes to make your anticipated entrance.

As the room buzzes with excitement and anticipation, you'll make your grand entrance to a chorus of cheers and applause. This heartwarming moment is filled with the genuine joy of your loved ones.

3:45pm - The Wedding Breakfast

Many find this part of the day particularly delightful. Our fantastic catering team serves your custom menu and drinks with flair!

5:15pm - The Speeches

After your delicious meal, your dear ones might want to share some heartfelt words on this special day. There are no strict rules about who gives a speech – it's completely up to you. We've got a wireless microphone ready so everyone can hear, and the liveliest speakers have the freedom to move!

6-8pm - Time To Mingle!

Here's when guests can relax, mingle, and enjoy a drink. They will likely head to the bar that opens right after The Wedding Breakfast.

8pm The First Dance

Your first dance sets the tone—whether it's a formal affair or a lively celebration with the whole wedding party. Whether you choose a DJ, live band, or a ceilidh, we've got a range of recommendations to make it unforgettable!

8:30pm - Evening Refreshments

Keep the party vibe soaring with a selection of bold, delicious, and creative dishes that'll fuel everyone for more dancing!

11:45pm - Last Orders

Midnight - The Bar Closes, All Guests Depart Whistle Barns

As with all fairytales, your special day winds down at midnight. When the clock strikes twelve, it's time to make your way to your chosen accommodation for the night.

12:15am - Whistle Barns Closes

12:30am - All Guests To Have Departed The Venue

Our fantastic team will collect any of your remaining items from the venue and store them securely overnight. Any surplus drinks you have provided will also be safely kept for your pick-up the next morning. Either at 9am or 9:30am.
